Catamarca Province

Catamarca Province

Catamarca is a province in northwest Argentina, bordering Chile. Its dramatic landscapes include cactus-studded sierras in the east and stark Andean highlands in the northwest. Iconic Route 40 climbs to the towns of Belén and Londres, known for handwoven ponchos and the nearby El Shincal Inca ruins. The neoclassical Cathedral Basilica of Our Lady of the Valley draws pilgrims to Catamarca, the provincial capital.
