Emporio

The lively inland village of Emporio sits at the foot of Profitis Ilias Mountain, overlooked by the restored, 15th-century Venetian Castle and the ruined Tower of Nimborio. Charming medieval alleys are dotted by whitewashed, blue-domed Orthodox churches with elaborate bell towers. Upscale bakeries, wine bars, and al fresco tavernas sit among boutique hotels, some in traditional cave houses, and simple guest houses.
